Hunan's Foreign Trade Totals 282.26 Billion Yuan in H1 of 2024
According to statistics from Changsha Customs, Hunan's total foreign trade value reached 282.26 billion yuan in the first half (H1) of the year.
In June, Hunan's imports and exports rose 2.8% to 45.19 billion yuan compared to the same period last year, achieving positive monthly growth. Imports played a crucial supporting role with a total of 117.96 billion yuan in H1 of the year, up 16% year-on-year. Notably, bulk commodity imports reached 37.08 billion yuan, a growth of 8.3% in the same period.
Hunan's trade with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative accounted for nearly half of the province's total foreign trade value, amounting to 140.22 billion yuan in the first half of the year. The trade with African countries stood at 27.06 billion yuan in the same period.
Changsha, capital of Hunan province, bolstered its role in supporting foreign trade. The city's imports and exports topped 135.11 billion yuan in H1 of the year. It accounted for 47.9% of the province's total. In June alone, Changsha's trade value totaled 24.37 billion yuan, rising 25.3% and underscoring its role in stabilizing foreign trade. The foreign trade value of such other cities as Chenzhou, Yueyang, and Xiangtan also exceeded 20 billion yuan in H1 of the year.
In terms of market entities, the performance of economy-based enterprises maintained positive momentum. The number of enterprises registered with Chang Customs in the province surpassed 30,000 and went up to 30,178, grew by 8.9% in H1 of the year. Leading enterprises including Zoomlion, Hunan Valin Xiangtan Iron and Steel, Sany Heavy Industry, Minmetals Copper (Hunan), and BYD have all achieved significant growth.
